ABOUT US:

The Kingfish began his fishing compulsion, er . . . ,obsession, er . . . career at the tender age of 2, with a stick, a string, a paper clip and a bucket full of water in the back yard. He would “fish” for hours on end. . . .  Talk about patience, perseverance and optimism!

It didn’t take long, however, for him to figure out that there was nothing pulling from the other end of the line. His dad, Leonard, took him to a local pond and taught the Kingfish (then called just “Bob”) how to bait-up, cast the line, set the hook, land the fish – and then release it unharmed (unless it was planned for the table). They fished together in ponds and lakes and on their yearly vacations to the beaches of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

Many years later, the Kingfish took his dad trout fishing for rainbow & brown trout, and to the gulf coast where he taught him how to sabicki cigar minnows, goggle eyes, and alewives for bait, how to hook the bait for realistic presentation, and how to properly play a large fish with your reel’s drag screaming at you.

"My dad was a great teacher. He not only taught me how to fish, he also taught me that to be a great teacher, you have to be a great student – because great teachers never quit learning."

The Kingfish's philosophy:

Fishing is Fun!

Using the highest quality equipment you can afford makes it even more fun -

and productive.

Our "Home Water" is Lake Sidney Lanier, a 38,000 acre U.S. Corps of Engineers impoundment on the Chattahoochee River 35 miles northeast of Atlanta, GA.  Lake Lanier has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the most productive freshwater Striped Bass fisheries in the U.S. The Lake Lanier record is a 46 lb. striper, but many fish are caught (and most released) daily in the 15 - 30 lb. range. A number of large stripers in excess of 30 lbs. are hooked and broken-off, or lost due to spooled reels, fairly regularly on Lake Lanier. Many local fishermen believe it is only a matter of time until a new lake record will be established. The Kingfish, himself, has landed many fish that weighed in the mid-teens to mid-20's. . . .

plus a 31 lb. giant and a 34 lb. monster striped bass - on 6 wt. & 8 wt. fly rods.

"BEAT ME UP & GIVE ME MORE!"

Lake Lanier is also THE premier Spotted Bass lake in the Southeast.

Stripers and Spots - what a great body of water to call "home'!

On most nice days - and even many foul weather days -

you can find The Kingfish on Lake Lanier in his

Triton LTS bay boat or his RIVER HAWK B-60 Kingfish Edition boat

tempting . . . challenging . .  . begging the stripers to make his line "go the other way".

The line "going the other way", a great match-up between fisherman and fish,

and then watching the released fish swim away

- with the fish thinking HE actually won -

there's no better way to soothe the soul.

Take a kid, friend, neighbor - or your dad - fishing.

They'll never forget it - and neither will you!

See you on the water.

Tight Lines & Fish Tales,

The Kingfish
